Spirulina, your everyday health ally!

What are the origins of Performe?

Performe was founded in 2020 and is a French brand of natural dietary supplements made from microalgae. Thanks to more than 25 years of family expertise, Performe offers you the best of spirulina in liquid supplements for better absorption and optimal effectiveness.

Our priority is to guarantee our customers the transparency and traceability of our products. Our supplements are manufactured from start to finish on our eco-farm in the heart of the Pyrénées-Orientales in the south of France.

Bertrand Lépine has been cultivating spirulina in France for 25 years. He invented and marketed the first liquid spirulina extracts titrated in phycocyanin (patent 1999). Still passionate about this cyanobacterium, he has a production greenhouse and a laboratory where he conducts R&D and extracts liquid extracts. Thanks to this expertise, Kévin and Antoine, the founders of Performe, have developed a fresh spirulina liquid extract concentrated in phycocyanin that is highly bioavailable and pleasant to consume.

 What is spirulina?

Spirulina is one of the oldest living microorganisms on our planet. This microalgae is made up of two pigments: chlorophyll and phycocyanin. For nearly 50 years, spirulina has been considered a health food and dietary supplement, which is why Performe, with over 25 years of expertise, decided to cultivate this microalgae.

Consuming our dry spirulina flakes, rich in protein, iron, and amino acids, will add that little extra nutritional boost to your salads, yogurts, or smoothies. Our liquid blue spirulina, rich in phycocyanin, will support your daily well-being. It will boost your immune system, help reduce inflammation, increase your energy levels, and improve your recovery.

Spiruline

What are its health benefits?

Beyond its rich nutritional value, spirulina has a significant impact on our body. It gives your microbiota a boost, as revealed in an article published in the journal Microbiology Open. This microalgae increases the number of bacteria that produce short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), which are beneficial to our health.

Blue spirulina, thanks to its concentration of phycocyanin (the blue-red pigment in spirulina), has many benefits for the body:

    • Natural anti-inflammatory action that does not cause any digestive problems. It reduces pain by inhibiting inflammation.
    • It helps increase hemoglobin levels in the blood, which improves muscle oxygenation and enhances recovery from fatigue.
    • It strengthens immunity. An in vivo study published in the Journal of Applied Phycology revealed that it promotes the proliferation of immune cells in the peripheral blood and bone marrow.
    • Has an antioxidant effect. Oxidative stress is damage to cells caused by free radicals. It is the result of an imbalance between antioxidant and pro-oxidant free radicals, causing cellular aging. Several scientific studies have demonstrated the antioxidant power of phycocyanin, which traps these free radicals.

Leaderlink: Fasting & Management Program

Can you tell us about Fasting & Management?

Since 2018, Leaderlink has been offering a health coaching program for entrepreneurs, executives, and team managers. The Fasting & Management program is our commitment to healthy leaders. Our team of experts offers you a practical answer to the question: how can you manage your health resources to lead/manage effectively and sustainably?

What are the health and well-being benefits of using your service?

The executive embodies the vitality of the company. Symbolically, and contrary to the managerial hypertrophy we have been witnessing for so long in terms of the allocation of external resources to executives (machines, processes, raw materials, financial resources, human resources),

the health of the leader escapes the very notion of a fundamental resource. The concept of health still too often acts as the best means we have found to respect our natural law: evaluating, repairing, optimizing, and above all, preserving (oneself) can become a strategic management focus.

The human sciences applied to business teach us that everything, absolutely everything, is a reflection of the leader/manager. In other words, the latter's inner state permeates every idea, every decision, every word, every action. This gives rise to a fundamental principle: what happens inside each person is reflected outside, and vice versa.

A leader's state of health is expressed through skills that are essential to the functioning and interpersonal abilities of the leader in relation to the company and teams. For example, the leader's ability to think correctly rather than just thinking non-stop. Their ability to maintain a clear vision in a chronic context of information overload (infobesity). Their ability to endure a high frequency of analysis and decision-making; to maintain accurate dialogue with customers and teams; to embody the right level of listening and empathy, in all circumstances, all year round… all these behaviors are rooted in and stem from the leader's overall health. This ecology can be a political axis in the service of a prosperous and sustainable company.

Our week-long reset fast is the gateway to the fasting & management program. It is first and foremost an experience that takes you on the most direct and natural path to the roots of your health resources. Each time they reconnect, executives feel, understand, and reap immediate benefits on three levels: physical, emotional, and mental.

Nahibu

What is the overall benefit?

To strengthen the leader's ability to fulfill their obligations with the vital enthusiasm that their position demands. The corollary of this is greater personal fulfillment and the ability to continue developing their business in a balanced way for as long as possible.

Leading/managing effectively (in good health) for as long as possible is the ideal that guides and motivates us here, at your side!

Understanding your gut microbiota analysis report

Understanding your gut microbiota analysis report

Understanding the Nahibu analysis report

For each analysis, users can download a summary in PDF format. This simplified report from the Nahibu digital platform was designed by gut microbiota experts to make it easier for healthcare professionals to read. It consists of two main sections.

Introduction to the Nahibu analysis report

A general presentation of Nahibu, our objectives, and a brief description of what the gut microbiota is.

A description of how the results were generated. For the report, the user is automatically compared to Nahibu's healthy cohort. This cohort consists of individuals who have not reported any diagnosed chronic diseases or digestive disorders.

Presentation of the three result categories: Optimal, Average, and Room for Improvement. These results are obtained by comparing the user's value with that of the healthy cohort (ordered). Thus, an Improveable result is one that falls within the 5% of most extreme values (between 0 and the 5th percentile, and above the 95th percentile). The value is Average when it is within the 20% most extreme values of the cohort (between the 5th and 25th percentile, and between the 75th and 95th percentile). Finally, the result is optimal when it falls within the values of plus or minus 25% of the median (between the 25th and 75th percentile).

General information about the user. This information is extracted from the questionnaire previously completed by the user and allows you to view the information necessary to understand the user's lifestyle, medical history, and eating habits.

The results of the gut microbiota analysis

Richness

This refers to the number of bacteria detected in the analysis, which is an essential metric for assessing good health. Indeed, numerous studies show that a decrease in diversity can have an impact on our health. Therefore, the more fiber we consume, and the more different types of fiber we consume, the better it is for the diversity of our gut microbiota and our health.

The enterotype

The aim of enterotypes is to stratify individuals based on their gut microbiota into a limited number of groups, each group being dominated by a particular bacterial genus. Unlike blood types, enterotypes do not have clear boundaries. Depending on the individuals studied and the methods used, the number of groups varies, generally ranging from two to four. The two most robust enterotypes, as found in the majority of analyses, appear to be Prevotella and Bacteroides. The third group originally defined, Ruminococcus, may, depending on the study, be merged with one of the first two or replaced by another group. The Bacteroides enterotype, associated with a diet rich in animal fats, is dominant in the Western world, while the Prevotella enterotype is more prevalent in rural societies with fiber-rich diets. While a short-term diet (less than one month) does not allow an individual to change their enterotype, it is not yet clear whether long-term diets can influence enterotypes.

Intestinal balance

This measures the presence or absence of dysbiosis within the microbiota. Dysbiosis, as opposed to eubiosis, is a term used to describe an altered microbiota with an unbalanced composition. Dysbiosis of the intestinal microbiota is characterized by a decrease in microbial diversity, a decline in the abundance of the Firmicutes phylum in favor of Bacteroidetes, and an increase in the abundance of potentially pathogenic species.

The distribution of phyla

More than 1,000 bacteria present in the gut microbiota have been identified. They are classified into groups at different levels of precision, including phyla. In the gut microbiota, there are three most abundant phyla, which make up about 90% of the adult gut microbiota: Firmicutes, Bacteroidetes, and Actinobacteria. There are other less abundant phyla, such as Proteobacteria and Verrucomicrobia, for example.

phylum

List of detected genera and bacteria

This is a selection made by Nahibu of genera and bacteria of interest based on scientific literature. This selection includes 4 genera of interest (Bifidobacterium, Dialister, Coprococcus, Lactobacillus) and 11 bacteria of interest (Akkermansia muciniphila, Faecalibacterium prausnitzii, [Eubacterium] hallii, Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, Barnesiella intestinihominis, Bifidobacterium longum, Bilophila wadsworthia, Clostridioides difficile, Roseburia intestinalis, [Ruminococcus] gnavus, Veillonella atypica).

Short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) production

SCFA production is stimulated by the breakdown of fiber by bacteria in the gut microbiota. These SCFAs are absorbed by our bodies and have been shown to have several beneficial effects on health: they are a source of energy for colon cells, strengthen the intestinal barrier and immune system, improve colon transit, have an effect on cholesterol and blood sugar levels, reducing inflammation, regulating appetite, and preventing obesity and colorectal cancer, for example.

They therefore have a protective effect against colon diseases. The amount of SCFAs varies and their production can be increased by consuming foods rich in probiotics and fiber. The three main SCFAs are butyrate, acetate, and propionate.

Analysis of the functional potential of the microbiota

Nahibu's analysis of the gut microbiota, based on the quantification of bacterial genes detected in DNA extracted from a stool sample, allows its functional potential to be extrapolated.

The PDF report provides information on the nutritional quality of intake, diversity, prebiotic intake, and the level of intestinal inflammation. All this information is measured in relation to Nahibu's healthy cohort. In addition, the analysis of the functional potential of the microbiota includes a section on the tolerance and intolerance of bacteria to various complex sugars (FODMAPs).

Nahibu

The abundance table

Attached is a list of bacteria detected in significant quantities (>0.01%) in the sample. For each bacterium, the list indicates its classification and relative abundance as a percentage of all bacteria detected in the microbiota.

Bio Fibers, the first ingredient developed by Nutri&Co, certified vegan and low-FODMAP!

Can you tell us about Nutri&Co?

Nutri&Co is a young French company founded in 2017 that strives to legitimize the key role of nutraceuticals in preventive healthcare. Nutraceuticals is the generic name for the dietary supplement industry. These two words are actually just the regulatory designation. Our job is to develop high-quality formulas and promote them through communication and marketing, the latter of which is currently exclusively digital. Today, Nutri&Co employs more than 30 people in Aix-en-Provence and has developed 14 formulas, all of which have become must-haves. In total, more than 600,000 bottles have been sold since the company was founded.

Can you tell us about your product?

Our Organic Fiber Mix is a combination of soluble organic guar gum and acacia fibers designed to provide an easy source of dietary fiber. It has been specially developed for people suffering from IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) who generally limit their fiber intake or rigorously select the fibers they consume and favor a low-FODMAP diet, which is difficult to follow strictly.

Our mix combines effectiveness and practicality: with approximately 5.3g of fiber per serving, it is tasteless and odorless, perfectly soluble in hot or cold drinks and yogurt, and can be easily incorporated into cakes and cooked dishes. We have even published a recipe book to make it easier, more fun, and more appetizing to include in your daily diet. The challenge in developing the product was to find the optimal granulation to ensure the mix was soluble and easy to use in your daily preparations.

Our formula is Low-FODMAP certified: Certified Low-FODMAP by Monash University (a leader in FODMAP research), our Organic Fiber formula is specifically designed using clinically documented dietary fibers to allow people with IBS to consume more fiber without experiencing discomfort.

Presentation:

In a 250g doypack bag. With measuring scoop.

  • 1 scoop = 5.3g of fiber. 1 to 5 scoops per day.
  • For 1 scoop/day: sachet lasts 1.5 months
  • For 5 scoops/day: the bag will last 9 days
Nutri&Co;

What are the health and wellness benefits of consuming these fibers?

Our eating habits have changed significantly, and above all, they have changed very quickly. One of the publications resulting from the analysis of NutriNet Santé data (scientific work studying the eating habits of French people) is very clear: out of a total of more than 100,000 participants monitored between 2009 and 2019, the consumption of ultra-processed and ultra-formulated products (high in energy and low in nutritional value) is at the expense of fiber consumption [1]. This is logical, since the industrialization of food has led to a decrease in the consumption of products that undergo little or no processing: raw fruits, vegetables, and whole grain products.

These behaviors and food choices automatically lead to a decrease in fiber consumption. In France, ANSES has established that a sufficient intake of dietary fiber for adults is 30g/day. At the European level (EFSA), the recommendation is around 25g/day. The latest French INCA survey [2], conducted in 2017, revealed insufficient daily fiber intake, with an average of only 19.6g. Analysis of food consumption in the NutriNet Santé cohort confirms these values, concluding that fiber intake is around 19.5g/day [3]. Insufficient fiber intake has also been reported in other developed countries, suggesting that this is a truly global problem [4].

The importance of fiber in daily life

In general, the health benefits of high-fiber diets are well established and are correlated with:
[14–16]:

  • Fewer intestinal disorders,
  • Better weight control: increased food volume and slower digestion (satiating effect),
  • Better blood sugar control (blood glucose levels): slowing down sugar absorption (limiting blood sugar spikes) and reducing the tendency to store excess sugar as fat,
  • Better cholesterol control (LDL levels in the blood): capture of cholesterol that can be eliminated in the stool.

Fiber and irritable bowel syndrome

The World Gastroenterology Organization (WGO) defines irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), irritable colon, or functional colopathy as a functional intestinal disorder in which abdominal pain or discomfort is associated with defecation and/or a change in bowel habits. IBS is a fairly common disorder that affects approximately 11% of the adult population worldwide and nearly 5% in France. Its prevalence varies between countries and affects three times more women than men [18–20]. Several causes or triggers are suspected. In all cases, it would appear that the origin is multifactorial:

  • Diet
  • Psychological factors (such as stress)
  • Infections
  • Microbiota health (richness and diversity)
  • Genetic factors

Fiber is difficult to digest for people with irritable bowel syndrome. It can cause characteristic digestive problems such as gas, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, etc. [21]. As a result, people with IBS avoid dietary fiber because of the discomfort it causes, even though it is essential for their health. Furthermore, less fiber has an impact on their microbiota, which becomes poorer, which can aggravate their IBS, creating a vicious circle.

It should be noted here that there are two categories of fiber depending on their solubility: soluble fiber and insoluble fiber. When it comes to diets for people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), there is a consensus that a low-FODMAP diet may be considered on a temporary basis (especially if general advice on diet and lifestyle proves ineffective).

In practice, people with irritable bowel syndrome will seek to limit their consumption of foods rich in FODMAPs. But how can FODMAP-type fibers be excluded without sacrificing all dietary fiber?

Our Low-FODMAP Organic Fiber Mix has been formulated to:

  • increase fiber intake simply and effectively,
  • meet fiber needs and, more specifically, address the pronounced deficiencies in people with irritable bowel syndrome.

For this formula, we have selected two soluble fibers whose physicochemical properties (including optimal viscosity) allow them to be slowly fermented by the gut microbiota:

  • Partially hydrolyzed guar gum fiber (galactomannan),
  • Acacia gum fiber (arabinogalactan).

Clinical data on our selected fibers for IBS

Acacia fiber [22] and partially hydrolyzed guar fiber [23,24] have been studied in the context of irritable bowel syndrome. They have shown good tolerance in people with irritable bowel syndrome, indicating that they can be taken as a daily supplement to compensate for fiber deficiency.

Recommendations

  • Our Organic Fibers are not defined as a formulation to directly reduce the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome.
  • Our Organic Fibers help compensate for potential fiber deficiency in cases of irritable bowel syndrome.

This is why our Organic Fibers duo is suitable for a low-FODMAP diet and should be incorporated into a structured diet under the supervision of a doctor/dietitian in cases of IBS.

Nutri&Co;

How did the concept come about?

In Europe, and more specifically in France, this preventive approach is new, as our view of health is culturally very curative. To put it simply, until now we waited until we got sick to seek treatment. But the health wave coming from the Nordic countries is spreading across the old continent, and the perspective gained on our modern lifestyles is leading us to adopt this proactive approach earlier and earlier. It is in this context that Edouard, a 27-year-old bodybuilding enthusiast and practitioner, became interested in nutrition. He realized that Western diets are deficient in certain key nutrients such as vitamin D, magnesium, and omega-3 fatty acids. He therefore turned his attention to nutraceuticals, but came to a bitter realization: French people are not proud to consume this type of product, which is still too closely associated with medicine, and there is widespread skepticism about their effectiveness. Added to this is the fact that the products on offer do not at all encourage personal responsibility and that the customer experience is neglected:

Product information is technical and fragmented, even for a pharmacist!
Prices vary by up to 100%, leading to a lack of confidence.
There is no transparency about products that appear at first glance to be highly processed (when in fact they are not).
Finally, the sterile aesthetics derived from laboratory culture leave no room for emotion.

Nutri&Co was therefore founded with the aim of giving nutraceuticals their rightful place in preventive health care, by establishing them as part of everyday life. This mission is embodied above all in a quest for the greatest possible effectiveness, made accessible to all. Our approach responds to the deepest aspirations of human beings: to learn and live more intensely.

The three pillars that set us apart:

Back to efficacy
We make no concessions when it comes to the efficacy of our formulas. At N&C, we don't buy environmental awareness with a kraft bottle that protects nothing, or free from products with excessive labeling… With us, what you buy is first and foremost efficacy. This is particularly evident in our bio-identical approach, which avoids the fanaticism of total vegetarianism and reconciles science and nature.

A guiding brand
The second strong element of the brand is our desire to support the need for self-care (i.e., taking charge of one's health, not self-medication). This involves carefully crafted educational content that is accessible to all, as well as a firm belief that preventive health care takes precedence over curative care. This brand pillar is reflected in our product infographics, our ability to simplify scientific discourse, our videos, and certain posts on social media.

Aesthetics to make people proud
Because dietary supplements have been marketed as medicines for too long, their consumption is taboo. To remove the stigma and promote the image of prevention as something socially valuable, we focus on aesthetics inspired by the codes of cosmetics: elegant, colorful bottles, carefully designed galenics (Licaps, etc.), and above all, positive semantics (Nutra, bottles, capsules, etc.).

What is your area of expertise?

Absolute product mastery

  • 100% in-house formulation: we don't just take products off the shelf from manufacturers, we launch pre-clinical studies
  • Control of the production chain thanks to our volumes = direct negotiation of strategic ingredients and maintenance of good prices.

  • Interactive and fun omnichannel experience: eShop, e-Marketplace, prescribers, pharma, etc.
  • True transparency: names of ingredient producers, prices, and analyses.
  • Ultra-responsive, accurate, and internalized after-sales service: telephone and social media.
