Nahibu launches the "Microbiota-Friendly" movement among restaurant owners!

Nahibu launches the Microbiota-Friendly movement among restaurant owners in Rennes.

Nahibu is calling for applications from restaurants in Rennes who, despite the health crisis and its many constraints, work every day to make our takeaway meals truly healthy and balanced feasts.

There is a growing awareness that our diet plays a key role in the balance of our intestinal flora, which contributes significantly to the development of our immunity, the quality of our sleep, and our physical and mental abilities.

This movement aims to promote the eco-friendly dishes of our restaurateurs, which contribute to good health and greater well-being.

Restaurateurs are among the professionals who have been hit hard by COVID-19, yet their cuisine continues to comfort us, delight our taste buds, and also our gut bacteria.

In Rennes, we have a real desire to eat local, fresh, and responsibly. More and more restaurateurs are taking the initiative to offer balanced, complete dishes that are good for the microbiota! It is through the 'Microbiota-Friendly' movement that we want to promote their actions. Pierre Cressard, Founder and President of Nahibu

This initiative, proposed by the Rennes-based company, which specializes in gut microbiota analysis, consists of highlighting the quality guarantee that can be found on our restaurateurs' menus. This recognition will be reflected in the microbiota-friendly label, awarded by Nahibu following a simple study of the composition of the dishes offered on the menu.

Restaurateurs, would you like to highlight the effort you put into creating balanced dishes that are rich in fiber, low in simple sugars, and low in saturated and animal fats?

Contact Nahibu at the following address: maryline@nahibu.com and join the movement!

BRAINEFFECT is a brand of high-quality vegan dietary supplements that support and improve the four pillars of a sharp, balanced, and strong mind: well-being, sleep, energy, and concentration.

The way you nourish your mind today affects the person you will be tomorrow. Fabian Foelsch, a former elite athlete, understood early on the importance of healthy nutrition for the body and mind in order to achieve better mental performance, better sleep, and combat stress.

Unable to find healthy, accessible, or suitable products, Fabian Foelsch launched the BRAINEFFECT brand in Germany in 2016.

Today, BRAINEFFECT enables millions of people to give their minds the attention and nutrients they deserve.

BRAINEFFECT dietary supplements

BRAINEFFECT offers a wide range of products tailored to individual needs, for better sleep, greater well-being, energy, and concentration, in the form of sprays, oils, capsules, powdered drinks, and even gummies.

In 2016, BRAINEFFECT created the first spray with melatonin in Europe: SLEEP SPRAY. SLEEP SPRAY is an oral spray that combines melatonin, the natural sleep hormone, with calming plant extracts such as ashwagandha and lavender, helping you fall asleep in less than 15 minutes and enjoy better quality sleep. Thanks to its easy dosage and quick and simple administration, SLEEP SPRAY also helps with nighttime awakenings.

The GUARD formula, a dietary supplement in capsule form for better digestion, has recently been improved. GUARD now contains more than 20 billion probiotics from 20 different cultures, calcium for digestion, dietary fiber, and niacin for the intestinal mucosa.

Take two capsules every morning to improve your digestion and help rebuild your intestinal flora.

A healthy microbiota plays a key role in improving mental and physical well-being. It's no coincidence that the gut is called our second brain. A healthy microbiota not only promotes good digestion, but also plays a role in our energy levels, strengthening the immune system and improving the synthesis of serotonin, the happiness hormone.

Taking care of your intestinal system to combat intestinal hyperpermeability

Laboratoire NG, experts in micro-nutrition

The laboratory was founded in 2012 when a doctor with a passion for nutrition and micro-nutrition met a farmer who was aware of the virtues of plants.

Laboratoire NG is supported by a team of healthcare practitioners who are passionate about phytotherapy. They develop specific formulas and manufacture all of their products in France, working with prescribing therapists and certain physical points of sale (pharmacies, drugstores, herbalists, organic stores, etc.).

The role of our intestinal ecosystem

The intestine plays an essential role in our daily health and in maintaining it. It is the key organ for immunity in the digestive tract, but also for our overall immune defense. It is also thanks to the intestine that the nutrients necessary for the proper functioning of our body are absorbed and redistributed where our body needs them.

The intestinal mucosa is like a huge filter whose role is to allow the nutrients (vitamins, minerals, etc.) we need to live to pass through. It prevents the penetration of microorganisms, macromolecules, and toxic compounds that could create an imbalance in our metabolism.

The intestinal wall is lined with a very thin epithelium, composed of villi and microvilli, which are very finely pleated. It consists mainly of a single layer of cells, called enterocytes, which act as a mechanical barrier to the contents of the intestine.

What is intestinal hyperpermeability?

The proper functioning of our intestinal system depends greatly on the quality of our diet and the type of food we eat. In the days of hunter-gatherers, our diet was low in carbohydrates and sodium and rich in potassium, protein, and fiber, whereas today we probably consume too many ultra-processed foods, modern wheat, and refined sugar, which our bodies have difficulty accepting.

In addition, chronic stress (which acidifies the body 300 to 400 times more than food) is also a source of intestinal barrier disruption, as is the continuous use of medications (antibiotics, antidepressants, etc.).

The result is an alteration of the gut microbiota, which becomes scarce and of poor quality, favoring pathogenic bacteria at the expense of good bacteria: this is known as intestinal dysbiosis. The mucus that lines the intestinal wall diminishes and weakens it, the intestinal microvilli are altered, the tight junctions that hold the intestinal cells together open up, and our intestine becomes a real sieve: it becomes hyperpermeable.

How can you regenerate your gut and restore your intestinal ecosystem?

It is advisable to adopt a hypotoxic and anti-inflammatory diet (vegetables, fruit, small oily fish, legumes, etc.), and to work on your emotions, sleep, and lifestyle.

It is useful to support intestinal function by consuming nutrients that will relieve gastrointestinal irritation, help restore the intestinal mucosa, and thus reduce intestinal hyperpermeability.

cicaflor

What are the benefits of Laboratoire NG products?

Their Cicaflor product is a combination of synergistic active ingredients that help combat intestinal hyperpermeability.

  • L-glutamine is the most abundant amino acid in the blood and muscles. It plays a role in protein synthesis, immune protection, maintaining the integrity of the intestinal wall, and the body's acid-base balance.
  • Turmeric extract contributes to normal intestinal function and helps reduce the effects of oxidative stress.
  • Propolis has strong antimicrobial and antifungal properties and stimulates our immunity.
  • Chamomile, rich in polyphenols, is an excellent anti-inflammatory and has soothing properties.
  • Zinc contributes to the normal functioning of the immune system.

Does diet affect our mood?

Does diet affect our mood?

Gut-Brain Axis:

How Food Affects Your Mood

Is Happiness on Your Plate?

Have you ever noticed that your mood influences your food choices?

When you're feeling blue, you often crave something sweet. This is not surprising, as eating foods high in sugar, salt, or fat stimulates the release of dopamine in the brain and activates the reward circuit.
But did you know that the opposite is also true?

What you eat can have a direct impact on your stress, anxiety, and mental clarity.
This biological link is largely based on the gut microbiota, an ecosystem of billions of microorganisms living in our intestines. Nutritional psychiatry, a rapidly growing field, confirms that the health of what is known as our second brain is closely linked to our nutrition. A diet tailored to your microbiota can therefore become your best ally for lasting intestinal and emotional well-being.

The Gut-Brain Axis: A Highway of Communication

The gut and the brain communicate constantly, both through nerve pathways, particularly via the vagus nerve, and through biochemical mechanisms involving neurotransmitters. This two-way relationship, known as the gut-brain axis, influences our mood, emotions, and even our daily motivation.

Serotonin: The Happiness Hormone is Produced in the Gut

Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that is essential for cognitive well-being. It plays a role in regulating mood, stress, and sleep. Although it plays a central role in the brain, its production depends largely on our gut: nearly 95% of the serotonin in our body is synthesized there. This production is directly linked to the balance of the gut microbiota, certain bacteria of which are involved in converting nutrients into serotonin precursors.
Therefore, a suitable diet promotes good gut health and contributes to better emotional balance. Conversely, intestinal dysbiosis can disrupt this production, leading to irritability, anxiety, or sleep disorders.

Mediterranean Diet vs. Western Diet: The Mood Match

Not all calories have the same impact on mental health. Scientific studies show that the type of diet directly influences the risk of depressive disorders and emotional well-being.

The Western Diet: The Inflammation Trap

Rich in ultra-processed foods and refined sugars and low in fiber, the Western diet promotes several imbalances:

  • Intestinal dysbiosis, marked by a loss of bacterial diversity.
  • Chronic inflammation disrupting gut-brain communication.
  • Low mood associated with persistent fatigue.

The Mediterranean Diet: Fuel for Well-being

Based on fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, and olive oil, the Mediterranean diet is a pillar of intestinal health:

  • It provides the fiber and polyphenols essential for microbial diversity.
  • It supports a balanced and resilient microbiota.
  • It naturally stabilizes mood over the long term.

Nahibu tip: Focus on diversity to support both your microbiota and your mood: the more colorful your plate, the more varied your sources of fiber and polyphenols.

The Power of SCFAs: The Molecules of Serenity

When we consume fiber, it is fermented by our gut bacteria into short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs): mainly butyrate, propionate, and acetate. These molecules play a key role in the gut-brain balance. Their effects on the brain are significant:

  1. Anti-inflammatory: They protect the nervous system by limiting inflammation.
  2. Regulatory: They participate in the production and modulation of soothing neurotransmitters.
  3. Protective: They strengthen the intestinal barrier, preventing pro-inflammatory molecules from passing into the bloodstream.

By feeding your good bacteria, you promote intestinal balance that provides lasting support for brain serenity.

Why Analyze Your Microbiome with Nahibu?

Every microbiota is unique. To optimize the link between diet and mood, it is essential to know precisely the composition and functioning of your intestinal flora.

Shotgun Metagenomic Sequencing: Absolute Precision

Nahibu uses shotgun metagenomic sequencing technology, which is currently the most advanced technology for microbiota analysis. It allows us to:

  • Identify the bacterial species present with great precision.
  • Determine their actual functions (what they do for you).
  • Assess their ability to produce key molecules, such as butyrate or serotonin precursors.

With this data, we can offer you personalized nutritional recommendations to tailor your diet to your emotional needs.

FAQ

Can

Diet is not a substitute for medical or psychological care. However, sufficient fiber and omega-3 intake supports gut health, reduces brain inflammation, and helps stabilize mood naturally.

What

Psychobiotics are foods that affect mood via the microbiota. Focus on fiber (leeks, onions, bananas), polyphenols (red fruits, dark chocolate, green tea), and fermented foods (kefir, kombucha, sauerkraut).

How

Chronic digestive problems (bloating, irregular bowel movements, etc.) combined with mental fatigue or irritability can be signs of dysbiosis. A Nahibu test can accurately check for this.
